CS 4610  -  Introduction to Cloud Computing and Services (3)

An introduction and broad view of cloud computing, its core services, and applications. Topics include data center architecture, distributed computing models and technologies, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), shared responsibility model, virtualization, microservices and containerization, cost management, and security issues. The course also introduces global infrastructure, well-architected framework, and core services of commercial cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. This course is co-listed with CS 5610. Prerequisite(s): CS 2300  with a grade of C or better or CS 2400  with a grade of C or better or consent of instructor. An additional fee is associated with this course.
