Transfer Guide SFCC AA to UCM BSE Secondary Education: Biology

The below courses are required for BSE Secondary Education majors and can be fulfilled at SFCC as part of the AA requirements. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of SFCC AA requirements can be found in the SFCC catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with an Associate of Arts degree are considered to have met all general education requirements at UCM, except for those specifically required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements below, if applicable).
AA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
AA Elective Options: 22 Semester Hours
The below courses are required for Secondary Education majors and may be taken as part of the 22 required elective hours for the AA degree at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.
Minimum Total Hours Required for SFCC AA: 64 Semester Hours
UCM BSE Secondary Education
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SFCC must be completed as part of the BSE Secondary Education requirements.
Major Requirements: 55-59 Semester Hours
General Science: 14 Semester Hours
Biology: 11-15 Semester Hours
Electives from the following: 0-4 Semester Hours
Biology elective requirements can be fulfilled at SFCC by taking BIOL 2010 (BIO 103). The following courses are additional elective options.
Professional Education Requirements: 30 Semester Hours
Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
Student Teaching Semester:
Free Electives: 0-4 Semester Hours
Elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BSE: 120 Semester Hours
*Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
