Transfer Guide OTC AS Fire Service Admin to UCM BS Crisis and Disaster Management

The below courses are required for BS Crisis and Disaster Management majors and can be fulfilled at OTC as part of the AS Fire Service Administration requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at OTC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of OTC AS requirements can be found in the OTC Catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with an AS degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. See The General Education Program Requirements page for full listing of transferable general education courses.
AS Fire Service Administration Requirements: 33 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for OTC AS: 61 Semester Hours
UCM BS Crisis and Disaster Management
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at OTC must be completed as part of BS requirements.
Major Requirements: 33-36 Semester Hours
Select One of the Following Areas: 9-12 Semester Hours
Emergency Management Area
Emergency Services Management Area
3 hours can be fulfilled at OTC using CDM 4515 (FST 240).
Environmental Hazards Area
General Education Requirements: 14-15 Semester Hours
The following General Education requirements will need to be completed at UCM. Hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at OTC/UCM.
- Foundational Skills: Managing Information (2-3 hours)
- Knowledge Area I (6-9 hours)
- Knowledge Area II (3 hours)
- Engagement (0-3 hours)
Free Choice Electives: 8-12 Semester Hours
Additional hours may be required depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM. Hours must reach at least 120 overall with at least 30 at upper-level.
Upper-level courses have course numbers in the 3000’s or 4000’s. Courses taken at OTC that transfer to UCM as upper-level courses do NOT count towards upper-level hours.
