Transfer Guide SFCC AAT to UCM BSE Special Education

The below courses are required for BSE Special Education majors and can be fulfilled at SFCC as part of the AAT requirements. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of SFCC AAT requirements can be found in the SFCC catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree are considered to have met all general education requirements at UCM, except for those specifically required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements below, if applicable).
AAT General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
AAT Program Requirements: 15.5 Semester Hours
AAT Program Electives: 9 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for SFCC AAT: 66.5 Semester Hours
UCM BSE Special Education
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SFCC must be completed as part of BSE requirements.
Core Requirements - All Certification Areas: 24 Semester Hours
Area of Certification Requirements: 21-25 Semester Hours
Area 1 - Cross-Categorical Disabilities: 25 Semester Hours
Professional Education Requirements: 14 Semester Hours
Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
Student Teaching Semester:
Area 2 - Autism & Severe Disabilities: 25 Semester Hours
Professional Education Requirements: 14 Semester Hours
Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
Student Teaching Semester:
Area 3 - Early Childhood: 21 Semester Hours
Professional Education Requirements: 14-16 Semester Hours
Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
Student Teaching Semester:
General Education Requirements: 3 Semester Hours
The following general education classes are required by this major:
Free Electives: 2-7 Semester Hours
Elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BSE: 120 Semester Hours
*Must be completed with a C or higher.
