Transfer Guide OTC AAS Fire Science Technology to UCM BS Crisis and Disaster Management

The below courses are required for BS Crisis and Disaster Management majors and can be fulfilled at OTC as part of the AAS Fire Science Technology degree requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at OTC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of OTC AAS requirements can be found in the OTC Catalog.​

Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate of Applied Science degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. See The General Education Program Requirements page for complete list of requirements.

AAS General Education Requirements: 19 Semester Hours


The below courses are recommended to be taken at OTC as part of the AAS and fulfill UCM general education/major requirements (listed in parentheses).

AAS Fire Science Technology Requirements: 44 Semester Hours

Minimum Total Hours Required for OTC AAS: 63 Semester Hours


UCM BS Crisis and Disaster Management


The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at OTC must be completed as part of BS requirements.

General Education Requirements: 26-27 Semester Hours


The following General Education  requirements will be required to complete at UCM.

  • Foundational Skills: Managing Information (2-3 hours)
  • Foundational Skills: Communication OR Writing II (3 hours) (depending on which course is selected at OTC)
  • Knowledge Area I (9 hours)
  • Knowledge Area II (3 hours)
  • Knowledge Area III (6 hours)
  • Engagement (3 hours)

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
