Transfer Guide MCC AAS Computer Science & Info Systems: Software Development to UCM BS Computer Science: Computer Networking Option

The below courses are required for Computer Science majors and can be fulfilled at MCC as part of the AAS Computer Science and Information Systems: Software Development requirements. If these courses are not taken at MCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of AAS requirements can be found in the MCC catalog.

Students who transfer to UCM with an Associate of Applied Science degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. Some courses are outlined below. See UCM General Education Requirements at the bottom of this guide.

AAS General Education Requirements: 18-23 Semester Hours


The below courses are recommended to be taken at MCC as part of the AAS degree and fulfill UCM general education/major requirements (listed in parentheses).

Specific Program/Emphasis Area Requirements: 42 Semester Hours


Minimum Total Hours Required for MCC AAS: 61-66 Semester Hours


UCM BS Computer Science: Computer Networking Option


The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at MCC must be completed as part of the BS requirements.

Major Requirements: 42 Semester Hours


Computer Networking Option: 15 Semester Hours


Electives from the Following: 6-15 Semester Hours

6 hours will be fulfilled at MCC using CSIS 228 (CS 3120) and CSIS 279 (CS 4130). Additional course options listed below.

Electives from the Following: 0-9 Semester Hours

6 hours will be fulfilled at MCC using CSIS 119 (CYBR 1500) and CSIS 170 (CYBR 1800). Additional course options listed below.

General Education Requirements: 21 Semester Hours


The following General Education requirements will need to be completed at UCM. Hours may vary depending on transfer coursework. Please review the General Education  page for the full list of requirements.

Free Choice Electives


Additional hours may be required depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM. Hours must reach at least 120 overall with at least 30 at upper-level.

Upper-level courses have course numbers in the 3000’s or 4000’s. Courses taken at MCC that transfer to UCM as upper-level courses do NOT count towards upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
