Transfer Guide BCC AAS Emergency Management to UCM BS Crisis and Disaster Management

Barton Community College
The below courses are required for Crisis and Disaster Management majors and can be fulfilled at BCC as part of the AAS Emergency Management/Homeland Security requirements. If these courses are not taken at BCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of BCC AAS requirements can be found in the BCC Catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate of Applied Science degree will be need to complete the general education program at UCM. Some courses are outlined below. See The General Education Program Requirements for full list of requirements.
AAS General Education Requirements: 18 Semester Hours
The below courses can be taken as part of the AAS requirements at BCC and fulfill UCM general education requirements.
AAS Emergency Management Requirements: 33 Semester Hours
AAS Major Electives: 13 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for BCC AAS: 64 Semester Hours
*Course also fulfills a requirement for one or more of the following certificates:
UCM BS Crisis and Disaster Management
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at BCC must be completed as part of BS requirements.
Major Requirements: 21-27 Semester Hours
Select One of the Following Areas: 3-9 Semester Hours
Emergency Management Area
Emergency Services Management Area
Environmental Hazards Area
Public Health Disaster Management Area
General Education Requirements: 24-25 Semester Hours
The following General Education requirements will need to be completed at UCM. Either CHEM 1103 or CHEM 1104 is required for this major.
Hours may vary depending on transfer coursework.
Free Choice Electives: 4-11 Semester Hours
Free choice elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.
Students must take at least 30 upper-level (3000/4000) hours to graduate. Courses taken at BCC that articulate to upper-level UCM courses do not count towards upper-level hours.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
