Agriculture Safety Certificate (10-8901) (15 hours)

The Agriculture Safety undergraduate certificate program is designed to help students detect safety and hazards and minimize or prevent farm-related accidents and injuries. 

Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the handling of farm animal livestock in a safe and humane manner for a production operation.
  • Examine and identify safety hazards associated with equipment used in livestock systems.
  • Apply safety principles, identify safety hazards and applicable regulations to operate equipment, machinery and power units used in agriculture, food and natural resources power, structural and technical systems.
  • Examine and categorize examples of how to minimize health or safety risks related to equipment and animals in agriculture, food and natural resources workplaces.

To apply for admission for the certificate in Agriculture Safety, the following items must be submitted:

  1. Admitted to the university as a degree-seeking or certificate-seeking student. 
  2. Application for the certificate in Agriculture Safety.

A maximum of six hours of transfer credit may be applied toward requirements in the certificate in Agriculture Safety.  Courses taken toward the undergraduate certificate program may be applied to a UCM Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Science.
