Student Learning Outcomes

The graduate with a Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies will use the knowledge and skills obtained in the program to:

  • Utilize scholarly resources from at least two disciplines appropriate for graduate-level studies.
  • Evaluate and propose solutions to complex problems related to the combination of at least two selected disciplines.
  • Apply appropriate methods and communicate the findings from a culminating project to a project team or professional audience.

The Interdisiciplinary Studies degree offers a flexible and innovative approach to graduate education. Students complete a 9-hour core focused on critical skills such as locating, evaluating, analyzing, and utilizing scholarly resources, as well as solving complex problems within their professional discipline.

Additionally, with intentional faculty guidance, each student will design a personalized curriculum with 24 elective hours across two disciplines, fostering a interdisciplinary perspective tailored to their goals. A culminating project will synthesize their learning. Students will be required to demonstrate both mastery and application of interdisciplinary knowledge. This program prepares graduates for career advancement, new opportunities, or further academic pursuits.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
    • An additional screening is required if GPA is below 2.74
