Transfer Guide JJC AAS to UCM BS Automotive Technology Management

AAS General Education Requirements: 15 Semester Hours

The below courses can be taken as part of the general education program at JC. If these courses are not taken at JJC, they must be completed at UCM.

Note: All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. Students who transfer to UCM with an AAS degree will need to complete the general education program at UCM. • MATH 128 Elementary Statistics transfers as  ACST 1300 - Basic Statistics GE (3)
• COMM 101 Principles of Speech Communication transfers as  COMM 1000 - Public Speaking GE (3)
• ENG 130 Technical Writing and Communication transfers as  CTE 3060 - Technical Writing GE (3)
• ECON 103 Principles of Economics I (Macroeconomics) transfers as  ECON 1010 - Principles of Macroeconomics GE (3)
• MATH 131 College Algebra transfers as  MATH 1111 - College Algebra GE (3)
• SOC 290 Cultural Diversity in America transfers as  ECEL 2110 - Diversity and Social Justice GE (3)

AAS Automotive Service Management Core Requirements: 52 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for Automotive Technology Management majors and will be taken as part of the required courses for the AAS Automotive Service Technology degree at JJC. If these courses are not taken at JJC, they must be completed at UCM.

• AS 106 Automotive Fundamentals transfers as  ATM 1010 - Contemporary Power Systems (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for all Areas)*
• AS 102 Automotive Engine Rebuilding transfers as  ATM 2110 - Engine Theory and Maintenance (4: 3 lecture, 1 lab) (required for all Areas)* AND ATM 3110 - Automotive Engine Overhaul (4: 1 lecture, 3 lab)  (required for Area 1)*
• AS 204 Brake System transfers as  ATM 2124 - Automotive Braking Systems (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
• AS 114 Electrical/Electronic Diagnosis transfers as  ATM 2130 - Automotive Electrical Systems (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
• AS 116 Automotive Fuel Systems transfers as  ATM 2132 - Engine Performance I (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
• AS 202 Engine Performance Diagnostics (Tune Up) AND AS 212 Automotive Update and Computer Controlled Systems transfers as  ATM 3130 - Engine Performance II (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
• AS 206 Manual Transmissions, Transaxles and Differentials transfers as  ATM 2140 - Manual Drivelines (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for Area 1)*
• AS 216 Air Conditioning/Climate Control transfers as  ATM 2150 - Mobile Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning (Mobile HVAC) (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for Area 1)*
• AS 214 Automatic Transmissions and Transaxles transfers as  ATM 4110 - Automatic Transmissions (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for Area 1)*

Minimum Total Hours Required for JJC AAS: 67 Semester Hours

Major Requirements: 43-53 Semester Hours

Students must receive a grade of C or better in all required courses with the ATM prefix in order for the course to count toward the major.

General Education Requirements: 10 Semester Hours

The following general education classes are required by this major:

• CIS 1600 - Business Information Management GE (3)
• CS 1030 - Introduction to Computer Programming GE (3)
• PHYS 1104 - Introduction to the Sciences: Physics GE (4: 4 lecture, 0 lab)

Upper-Level (3000/4000) Electives

Upper-level (3000/4000) elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM. Students must take at least 30 upper-level hours to graduate. Courses taken at JJC that articulate to upper-level UCM courses do not count towards upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120-124 Semester Hours

*Students must receive a grade of C or better in all required courses with the ATM prefix in order for the course to count toward the major.
