Transfer Guide LCC AS Criminal Justice to UCM BS Criminal Justice

The below courses are required for BS Criminal Justice majors and can be fulfilled at LCC as part of the AS Criminal Justice requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at LCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of LCC AS requirements can be found in the LCC Catalog.​

Only courses with a grade of C or better (including transfer courses) may be used to fulfill a core requirement in any major or minor offered exclusively by the Department of Criminal Justice.

AS General Education Requirements: 33 Semester Hours


Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate in Science degree will need to complete the general education program at UCM. The below courses required by the AS Criminal Justice degree at LCC fulfill general education requirements at UCM. See The General Education Program Requirements  page for full list of requirements.

AS CJ Concentration Requirements: 27 Semester Hours


Concentration Electives


Choose 9 hours from the following:

  • SOCI 211 Criminology (3) transfers as  
  • CRIM 111 Patrol Procedures (3) transfers as ELCT L801 Lower-level CJ Elective
  • CRIM 118 Drugs in Society (3) transfers as ELCT L801 Lower-level CJ Elective
  • CRIM 131 Community Policing (3) transfers as ELCT L801 Lower-level CJ Elective
  • CRIM 204 Police Supervision and Management (3) transfers as ELCT L801 Lower-level CJ Elective

Minimum Total Hours Required for LCC AS: 60 Semester Hours


UCM BS Criminal Justice


The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate in Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at LCC must be completed as part of BS requirements.

Major Requirements: 15 Semester Hours


Courses must be completed with a C or higher.

General Education Requirements: 13 Semester Hours


All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. 29 hours can be completed at LCC (see above). Hours may vary depending on transfer coursework.

Free Choice Electives: 32 Semester Hours


Free choice elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.

Students must complete a minimum of 30 upper-level hours (3000/4000). Courses taken at LCC that transfer to UCM as upper-level courses do not count towards upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
