GEOS 1114 - Weather and Climate GE (4: 3 lecture, 1 lab)Principles and theories of weather, climate, and other atmospheric phenomena. Included is the study of energy exchanges, winds, cloud types, precipitation forms, severe weather, generation of hurricanes, tornadoes, and mid-latitude storms, pollution, climate change and the cultural implications of weather and climate. Due to the quantitative nature of the course, college level mathematics is recommended. UCM General Education Competency: This course fulfills Knowledge Competency #7 and reinforces Foundational Skills Competency #3 in the Science with a Laboratory area of the UCM General Education Program.
This course is equivalent to MOTR PHYS 110LAS Essentials in Physical Sciences with Lab in the Natural Sciences Knowledge Area.
