CHEM 1131 - General Chemistry I GE (5: 5 lecture, 0 lab) First of a two course sequence that introduces the fundamental principles of chemistry and the reactivity of chemical elements and compounds. This course emphasizes modern atomic theory, structure and behavior of atoms and molecules, physical properties of matter, chemical reactions and energy relations, periodicity, and the mole concept and its applications. Includes laboratory experience. Prerequisite(s): Placement according to University policy applies. Passing score on a mathematics examination approved by the chemistry faculty, or MATH 1111 or MATH 1111R with grades of C or better. An additional fee is associated with this course.
This course is equivalent to MOTR CHEM 150L Chemistry with Lab in the Natural Sciences Knowledge Area.
