Transfer Guide MCC AA to UCM BME Music Education: Instrumental

The below courses are required for Music Education majors and can be fulfilled at MCC as part of the AA requirements. If the below courses are not taken at MCC they must be complete at UCM. The full list of MCC AA requirements can be found in the MCC Catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate in Arts degree will be considered to have met all general education requirements except for those specificaly required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements section below, if applicable).
AA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
AA Elective Options: 14 Semester Hours
AA General Degree Requirements: 4 Semester Hours

Minimum Total Hours Required for MCC AA: 60 Hours
*Students must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
UCM BME Music Education: Instrumental
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate in Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at MCC must be completed as part of BME requirements.
Major Requirements: 38 Semester Hours
BME Instrumental Students: 6-7 Semester Hours
Students are expected to be in a major large instrumental ensemble during every semester up to their student teaching semester, with a minimum of seven (7) separate semesters to include:
Woodwind, Brass & Percussion Students:
3 Combined Semester Hours in:
(up to 2 total semester hours of MUS 1081, MUS 4081, & MUS 4025 may be applied toward a degree)
1 out of 4 required hours can be fulfilled at MCC with completion of MUS 1010. The following courses are additional options.
Note:
Keyboard & Guitar majors must choose band or orchestra as their major large ensemble. Guitar majors may apply up to two (2) semester hours in MUS 4088 toward their major large ensemble requirements.
Professional Education Requirements: 25 Semester Hours
Students must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
Student Teaching Semester: 12 Semester Hours
General Education Requirements: 6 Semester Hours
The following general education courses must be taken at UCM.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BME: 120 Semester Hours
