Transfer Guide MCC AAS Computer Science & Info Systems: Software Development to UCM BS Computer Science, Software Development Option

The below courses are required for Computer Science majors and can be fulfilled at MCC as part of the AAS Computer Science and Information Systems: Software Development requirements. If these courses are not taken at MCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of AAS requirements can be found in the MCC catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with an Associate of Applied Science degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. Some courses are outlined below. See UCM General Education Requirements at the bottom of this guide.
AAS General Education Requirements: 18-23 Semester Hours
The below courses can be taken as part of the AAS general education program at MCC and fulfill UCM requirements.

- HIST 120 United States History to 1865 (3) transfers as HIST 1350 - History of the United States to 1877 GE (3) (Knowledge Area III, State Law Requirement)
OR - HIST 121 United States History Since 1865 (3) transfers as HIST 1351 - History of the United States from 1877 GE (3) (Knowledge Area III, State Law Requirement)
OR - POLS 136 Introduction to U.S. National Politics (3) transfers as POLS 1510 - American Government GE (3) (Knowledge Area III, State Law Requirement)
- MATH 120 College Algebra (3) transfers as MATH 1111 - College Algebra GE (3) (Knowledge Area II, required for major)

Specific Program/Emphasis Area Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for MCC AAS: 61-66 Semester Hours
UCM BS Computer Science: Software Development Option
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an AAS degree. Any courses listed above not taken at MCC must be completed as part of the BS requirements.
Core Major Requirements: 30 Semester Hours
Software Development Option: 21 Semester Hours
Electives from the Following: 12-15 Semester Hours
Electives from the following: 0-3 Semester Hours
12 hours will be fulfilled at MCC using CSIS 119 (CYBR 1500), CSIS 170 (CYBR 1800), CSIS 279 (CS 4130), and CSIS 228 (CS 3120). Additional course options listed below.
General Education Requirements: 21 Semester Hours
The following General Education requirements will need to be completed at UCM. Hours may vary depending on transfer coursework. Please review the General Education page for the full list of requirements.
Free Choice Electives
Additional hours may be required depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.
Students must take at least 30 upper-level (3000/4000) hours to graduate. Courses taken at MCC that articulate to upper-level UCM courses do not count towards upper-level hours.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
