Transfer Guide MCC AA to UCM BS History

The below courses are required for History majors and can be fulfilled at MCC as part of the AA requirements. If the below courses are not taken at MCC they must be completed at UCM. The full list of MCC AA requirements can be found in the MCC Catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate in Arts degree will be considered to have met all general education requirements except for those specificaly required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements section below, if applicable).
AA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
AA Elective Options: 18 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for MCC AA: 60 Hours
UCM BS History
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate in Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at MCC must be completed as part of BS requirements.
Major Requirements: 27 Semester Hours
Free Electives: 33 Semester Hours
From your elective hours, you may choose 9-12 hours from one of the following areas:
Area 1 - Business (take 6 hours)
(which is 9 hours toward the minor in Business Administration including ECON 1010 taken at MCC)
Area 2 - GIS (take 9 hours)
(which is 9 hours toward the Geographic Information Systems minor)
Area 3 - Web Management (take 9 hours)
Area 4 - Law
9 hours toward the minor in Legal Studies can be completed at MCC using PHIL 1400, PHIL 1410, PHIL 2300, and/or POLS 4580.
Area 5 - Africana Studies (take 6 hours)
(which is 9 hours toward the minor in Africana Studies including SOC 1830 taken at MCC)
Area 6 - Digital Media Production (take 10 hours)
(which is 10 hours toward the minor in Digital Media Production. COMM 1500 and COMM 1519 are prerequisites for the other COMM courses.)
Area 7 - Criminal Justice (take 3 hours)
(which is 9 hours toward the minor in Criminal Justice including CJ 1000 and CJ 2300 taken at MCC. CJ 1000 is a prerequisite for the other CJ courses.)
Area 8 - Safety Sciences (take 10 hours)
(which is 9 hours toward the minor in Safety Sciences)
Area 9 - Instructional Design (take 12 hours)
Area 10 - Build Your Own Area (take 9-12 hours)
Choose 9-12 hours with the same prefix or a mix of related courses with the approval of program coordinator and school chair. Not available for ANTH courses.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
