Transfer Guide SCC AS Nursing to UCM BS Health Studies

The below courses are required for Health Studies majors and can be fulfilled at SCC as part of the AS Nursing requirements. If these courses are not taken at SCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of SCC AS requirements can be found in the SCC catalog.

Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate of Science degree will need to complete the General Education program at UCM. See the UCM General Education Requirements section at the bottom of this guide.

AS General Education Requirements: 31 Semester Hours


AS Core Course Requirements: 41 Semester Hours

Minimum Total Hours Required for SCC AS: 72 Semester Hours


*A grade of “C” or better is required for Major courses.

UCM BS Health Studies


The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SCC must be completed at UCM.

Approved Electives: 9 Semester Hours


Approved electives require approval from the Health Studies program which result in a minor, certificate or prepare students for a certification or graduate school program.

A grade of “C” or better is required for Approved Electives.

General Education Requirements: 23-24 Semester Hours


The following General Education  requirements will need to be completed at UCM. 

  • Foundational Skills: Writing II (0-3 hours)
  • Foundational Skills: Communication (3 hours)
  • Foundational Skills: Managing Information (2-3 hours)
  • Knowledge Area I (6-9 hours)
  • Knowledge Area II (6 hours)

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
