Transfer Guide Three Rivers AS Health Sciences to UCM BS Health Studies

Three Rivers College
The below courses are required for Health Studies majors and can be fulfilled at Three Rivers as part of the AS Health Studies degree requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at Three Rivers, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of AS requirements can be found in the Three Rivers Catalog. Students who transfer to UCM with a completed AS degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. Some requirements are outlined below. See the UCM General Education Requirements section at the bottom of this guide. AS General Education Requirements: 42-43 Semester Hours
- ENGL 111 College Writing (3) transfers as ENGL 1020 - Composition I GE (3) (Foundational Skills: Writing I)
- ENGL 112 Advanced College Writing (3) transfers as ENGL 1030 - Composition II GE (3) (Foundational Skills: Writing II)
- SCOM 110 Public Speaking (3) transfers as COMM 1000 - Public Speaking GE (3) (Foundational Skills: Communication)
- PSYC 111 General Psychology (3) transfers as PSY 1100 - General Psychology GE (3) (Knowledge Area III, required for major)*
- SOCI 111 General Sociology (3) transfers as SOC 1800 - General Sociology GE (3) (Knowledge Area III)
- PSYC 243 Human Development Across the Lifespan (3) transfers as PSY 3220 - Life-Span Development (3) (required for major)*
- The combination of BIOL 231 & 232 Anatomy & Physiology I and II (8) transfers as BIOL 3401 - Human Anatomy (3: 1 lecture, 2 lab) AND BIOL 3402 - Human Physiology (5: 4 lecture, 1 lab) (required for major)*
- Fine Arts - Choose from: ARTS 123, MUSC 123, THEA 120 or 122 (Knowledge Area I)
- Literature - Choose from: ENGL 210, 221, 222, 231, 232, 241, or 242 (Knowledge Area I)
- MATH 163 College Algebra for Calculus (3) transfers as MATH 1111 - College Algebra GE (3) (Knowledge Area II)
OR - MATH 161 Mathematical Reasoning & Modeling (3) transfers as MATH 1620 - Introduction to Geometry and Decision Making for Educators GE (3) (Knowledge Area II)
- CHEM 111 Introductory Chemistry (5) transfers as CHEM 1104 - Introduction to the Sciences: Chemistry GE (4: 4 lecture, 0 lab) (Knowledge Area II, required for major)*
OR - CHEM 121 General Chemistry I (5) transfers as CHEM 1131 - General Chemistry I GE (5: 5 lecture, 0 lab) (Knowledge Area II, required for major)*
AS Electives: 18 Semester Hours
The following courses are recommended to complete at Three Rivers. Minimum Total Hours Required for Three Rivers AS: 61-62 Semester Hours
*A grade of “C” or better is required for Major courses. UCM BS Health Studies
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at Three Rivers must be completed at UCM. Major Requirements: 52 Semester Hours
A grade of “C” or better is required for Major courses. Approved Electives: 9 Semester Hours
Approved electives require approval from the Health Studies program which result in a minor, certificate or prepare students for a certification or graduate school program. A grade of “C” or better is required for Approved Electives. General Education Requirements: 3 Semester Hours
The following course will need to be completed at UCM. Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
