Transfer Guide KCK AA to UCM BS Political Science


Kansas City Kansas Community College


The below courses are required for Political Science majors and can be fulfilled at KCK as part of the AA Political Science requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at KCK, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of AA requirements can be found in the KCK catalog.

Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate in Arts degree are considered to have met all general education requirements at UCM, except for those specifically required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements below for these courses, if applicable).

AA General Education Requirements: 37-39 Semester Hours


Political Science Requirements: 20-22 Semester Hours


Minimum Total Hours Required for KCK AA: 60 Semester Hours


UCM BS Political Science


The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate in Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at KCK must be completed at UCM.

Note:


Students must take one class from each of the three (3) areas not chosen for their main area.

POLS 1244 POLS 4590 POLS 4591  and POLS 4592  do not fulfill this requirement.

Students must earn twelve (12) hours of upper-level (3000/4000) credit in their major and thirty (30) hours overall. Choose major electives accordingly.

Electives from One of the Following Areas: 9 Semester Hours


Free Choice Electives: 24 Semester Hours


Free choice elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM. Hours must reach at least 120 overall with at least 30 at upper-level.

Upper-level courses have course numbers in the 3000’s or 4000’s. Courses taken at KCK that transfer to UCM as upper-level courses do NOT count towards upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
