Studio Art Major (Area 2: Painting), BFA Degree - 120 hours


  • * Students must complete 9 hours of Painting II (ART 3511 , ART 3513 , and/or ART 3515 ) and 9 hours of Painting III (ART 4511 , ART 4513 , and/or ART 4515 ). Plein Air (ART 3513  & ART 4513 ) is offered in the fall and Figure (ART 3515  & ART 4515 ) is offered in the spring.
  • ** Students must choose 18 hours of ART major electives.
  • *** Students must choose 6 hours of Art History from the following courses: ART 1835 Global Arts & Culture GE, ART 3680 History of Graphic Design, ART 3800 History of Furniture and Interiors I, ART 4850 Twentieth Century Art and Architecture, and ART 4860 Contemporary Art and Desigin. 
  • 10 This course fulfills Competency 10 - Integration in the General Education program. The hours count in the major, not in general education.
  • To satisfy the General Education Assessment (GEA) Policy, students must take the GEA after they earn 60 credit hours but before earning 75 credit hours. Transfer students who have more than 60 hours earned should take the exam during their second semester at UCM. Students must achieve a passing score of 425 to meet graduation requirements.
