Transfer Guide SFCC AA to UCM BA English

The below courses are required for English majors and can be fulfilled at SFCC as part of the AA requirements. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of SFCC AA requirements can be found in the SFCC catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with an Associate of Arts degree are considered to have met all general education requirements at UCM, except for those specifically required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements below, if applicable).
AA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours

Minimum Total Hours Required for SFCC AA: 64 Semester Hours
UCM BA English
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SFCC must be completed as part of the BA requirements.
Major Requirements: 30-33 Semester Hours
Select Literature Track or Creative Writing Track: 27-30 Semester Hours
Literature Track: 27 Semester Hours
Select One Course from Each of the Five Following Areas: 15 Semester Hours
Creative Writing Track: 30 Semester Hours
Select one group of Creative Writing Introductory Courses: 9 Semester Hours
Introductory Courses Option 1
Introductory Courses Option 2
Select either Poetry or Fiction Emphasis Area: 6 Semester Hours
From this area, students must choose to take the required courses associated with Emphasis A or Emphasis B.
Select One Course from Each of the Five Following Areas: 15 Semester Hours
Minor Requirements: 15-35 Semester Hours
A minor is required for this major. Students completing the Literature Track are ineligible to receive an English Minor. Students completing the Creative Writing Track are ineligible to receive a Creative Writing Minor.
General Education Requirement: 6 Semester Hours
The following courses are specifically required for this major.
Modern Language Requirement: 0-3 Semester Hours
9 hours must be fulfilled in a single language. This requirement can be fulfilled at SFCC if French is chosen. If Spanish is chosen, please see remaining course options below (3 semester hours).

Free Choice Electives: 0-5 Semester Hours
Elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.
Students must take at least 30 upper-level (3000/4000) hours to graduate. Courses taken at SFCC that articulate to upper-level UCM courses do not count towards upper-level hours.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BA: 120 Semester Hours
