Transfer Guide MCC AA to UCM BS Biology

The below courses are required for BS Biology majors and can be fulfilled at MCC as part of the AA requirements. If these courses are not taken at MCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of MCC AA requirements can be found in the MCC catalog.

Students who transfer to UCM with an AA degree will be considered to have met all general education requirements, except those specifically required by the major (if applicable).

AA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours


AA Elective Options: 18 Semester Hours


Minimum Total Hours Required for MCC AA: 60 Semester Hours

The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate in Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at MCC must be completed as part of BS requirements.

Elect One of the 7 Areas: 14-33 Semester Hours


Note:

It is strongly recommended to take GEOS 4220 - Geographic Information Systems I (3) as a free elective for those students interested in government agency jobs.

Area 4 - Integrative Biology: 15-20 Semester Hours


Choose Plant Biol. or Animal Biol. Emphasis (A or B)

Electives from the Following: 0-4 Semester Hours

Elective hours from this category can be fulfilled at MCC with completion of BIOL 3712. The following are additional elective options.

Free Choice Electives: 17-36 Semester Hours


Free choice electives may vary depending on transfer coursework and Area chosen at UCM.

Students must take at least 30 upper-level (3000/4000) hours to graduate. Courses taken at MCC that articulate to upper-level UCM courses do not count towards upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
