Transfer Guide ECC AA to UCM BM Music: Jazz-Commercial Option

The below courses are required for BA Music majors and can be fulfilled at ECC as part of the AA requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at ECC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of ECC AA requirements can be found in the ECC Catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate of Arts degree are considered to have met all general education requirements at UCM, except for those specifically required by the major (see UCM General Education Requirements below for these courses, if applicable).
AA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
AA Elective Options: 18 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for ECC AA: 60 Hours
UCM BM Music: Jazz-Commercial Option
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at ECC must be completed as part of BM requirements.
Major Requirements: 62 Semester Hours
Jazz-Commercial Option: 54 Semester Hours
Major Large Jazz Ensemble Choices: 6 Semester Hours
Major Large Non-Jazz Ensemble Choices: 2 Semester Hours
Note:
Keyboard Competency is demonstrated by passing MUS 2502 - Piano Class IV (1) with a grade of B or better, or passing the piano proficiency examination.
General Education Requirements: 6 Semester Hours
The following general education courses are required for this major and should be taken at UCM.
Note:
MUS 1210 - Experiencing Music GE (3) cannot be counted in the Music Degree Major courses or General Education courses.
Major large ensembles cannot count toward General Education for the Music Major.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BM: 120 Semester Hours
