Transfer Guide NCMC AAS Criminal Justice to UCM BS Criminal Justice and Criminology

The below courses are required for BS Criminal Justice and Criminology majors and can be fulfilled at NCMC as part of the AAS Criminal Justice requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at NCMC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of NCMC AAS requirements can be found in the NCMC Catalog.
Only courses with a grade of C or better (including transfer courses) may be used to fulfill a core requirement in any major or minor offered exclusively by the Department of Criminal Justice.
AAS General Education Requirements: 15 Semester Hours
Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate in Applied Science degree will need to complete the general education program at UCM. The below courses required by the AAS Criminal Justice degree at NCMC fulfill general education requirements at UCM. See The General Education Program Requirements page for full list of requirements.
AAS Program Requirements: 48 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for NCMC AAS: 63 Semester Hours
UCM BS Criminal Justice and Criminology
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate in Applied Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at NCMC must be completed as part of BS requirements.
Major Requirements: 15 Semester Hours
Courses must be completed with a C or higher.
General Education Requirements: 22 Semester Hours
The following General Education courses will need to be completed at UCM.
- Foundational Skills: Writing II (3 hours)
- Knowledge Area I (9 hours)
- Knowledge Area II (7 hours)
- Elective (3 hours)
Free Choice Electives: 20 Semester Hours
Free choice elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.
Students must complete a minimum of 30 upper-level hours (3000/4000). Courses taken at NCMC that transfer to UCM as upper-level courses do not count towards upper-level hours.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
