Transfer Guide SFCC AFA Theatre to UCM BFA Theatre

The below courses are required for BFA Theatre majors and can be fulfilled at SFCC as part of the AFA degree requirements. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of AFA degree requirements can be found in the SFCC Catalog.
Students who transfer to UCM with an Associate of Fine Arts degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. Some courses are outlined below. See UCM General Education Requirements at the bottom of this guide.
AFA General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours
The below courses are recommended to be taken at SFCC as part of the AFA degree and fulfill UCM general education/major requirements (listed in parentheses).
Written/Oral Communication - 9
Social and Behavioral Sciences - 9

- BIO 103 Human Biology (3) transfers as BIOL 2010 - Human Biology GE (3) (Knowledge Area II)

Humanities and Fine Arts - 9
- LIT 112 World Literature (3) transfers as ENGL 2220 - World Masterpieces GE (3) (Knowledge Area I)
OR - LIT 101 Introduction to Literature (3) transfers as GNED 1909 Transferred Literature (Knowledge Area I)
- PHIL 102 Ethics (3) transfers as PHIL 2300 - Ethics GE (3) (General Education Elective)

AFA Theatre Core: 25 Semester Hours
Minimum Total Hours Required for SFCC AFA: 67 Semester Hours
UCM BFA Theatre
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Fine Arts degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SFCC must be completed as part of the BFA requirements.
Major Requirements: 51-56 Semester Hours
Core Requirements: 22 Semester Hours
Choose either Performance or Design/Technology: 29-34 Semester Hours
Performance: 29-32 Semester Hours
Elect 6 Hours from the Following Design/Tech. Courses: 6 Semester Hours
Choose 9 hours if THEA 122 (THEA 2620) was NOT completed at SFCC.
Design/Technology: 31-34 Semester Hours
THEA 2620 can be completed at SFCC using THEA 122. If not completed at SFCC, it is required at UCM.
Elect 9 Hours from the Following Performance Courses: 9 Semester Hours
General Education Requirements: 2-6 Semester Hours
The following General Education requirements will need to be completed at UCM.
Free Choice Electives
Additional hours may be required depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM. Hours must reach at least 120 overall with at least 30 at upper-level.
Upper-level courses have course numbers in the 3000’s or 4000’s. Courses taken at SFCC that transfer to UCM as upper-level courses do NOT count towards upper-level hours.
Minimum Total Hours Required for BFA: 120 Semester Hours
