Transfer Guide SCC AS Nursing to UCM BS Health Studies

The below courses are required for Health Studies majors and can be fulfilled at SCC as part of the AS Nursing requirements. If these courses are not taken at SCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of SCC AS requirements can be found in the SCC catalog. Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate of Science degree will need to complete the General Education program at UCM. See the UCM General Education Requirements section at the bottom of this guide. AS General Education Requirements: 31 Semester Hours
- ENG 101 English Composition I (3) transfers as ENGL 1020 - Composition I GE (3) (Foundational Skills: Writing I)
- ENG 102 English Composition II (3) transfers as ENGL 1030 - Composition II GE (3) (Foundational Skills: Writing II)
OR - Any LIT - Choose from: LIT 205, 215, 216, 220, 230, 237, 240, 260, 270, 271, 272, or 273 (Knowledge Area I)
- HIS 101 US History to 1877 (3) transfers as HIST 1350 - History of the United States to 1877 GE (3) (Knowledge Area III)
OR - HIS 102 US History Since 1877 (3) OR HIS 115 US History Since 1945 (3) transfers as HIST 1351 - History of the United States from 1877 GE (3) (Knowledge Area III)
OR - POL 101 American Government (3) transfers as POLS 1510 - American Government GE (3) (Knowledge Area III)
- PSY 101 Intro to Psychology (3) transfers as PSY 1100 - General Psychology GE (3) (Knowledge Area III, required for major)*
- SOC 101 Intro to Sociology (3) transfers as SOC 1800 - Introduction to Sociology GE (3) (Knowledge Area III, required for major)
- CHM 101/103 Intro to Chemistry & Lab (4) transfers as CHEM 1104 - Introduction to the Sciences: Chemistry GE (4: 3 lecture, 1 lab) (Knowledge Area II, required for major)*
- The combination of BIO 250 A&B and BIO 251 A&B Anatomy and Physiology I and II can substitute for BIOL 3401 - Human Anatomy (3: 1 lecture, 2 lab) AND BIOL 3402 - Human Physiology (5: 4 lecture, 1 lab) (required for major)*
AS Core Course Requirements: 41 Semester Hours

*A grade of “C” or better is required for Major courses. UCM BS Health Studies
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SCC must be completed at UCM. Major Requirements: 58 Semester Hours
A grade of “C” or better is required for Major courses. Approved Electives: 9 Semester Hours
Approved electives require approval from the Health Studies program which result in a minor, certificate or prepare students for a certification or graduate school program. A grade of “C” or better is required for Approved Electives. General Education Requirements: 23-24 Semester Hours
The following General Education requirements will need to be completed at UCM. - HLTH 1100 - Personal Health GE (3)
- Foundational Skills: Writing II (0-3 hours)
- Foundational Skills: Communication (3 hours)
- Foundational Skills: Managing Information (2-3 hours)
- Knowledge Area I (6-9 hours)
- Knowledge Area II (6 hours)
Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
