Transfer Guide CCC AAS Criminal Justice to UCM BS Criminal Justice & Criminology

The below courses are required for Criminal Justice and Criminology majors and can be fulfilled at CCC as part of the AAS Criminal Justice requirements. If any of the below courses are not taken at CCC, they must be completed at UCM. The full list of AAS requirements can be found in the CCC Catalog.​

Students who transfer to UCM with a completed Associate of Applied Science degree will need to complete the general education requirements at UCM. See the UCM General Education Requirements listed at the bottom of this guide.

AAS General Education Requirements: 15 Semester Hours


AAS Criminal Justice Requirements: 47 Semester Hours


Program Electives: 6 Semester Hours


  • The combination of CRIM 2000 Criminal Law (3) and CRIM 2080 Criminal Procedure (3) transfers as   *
  • Choose 3 additional hours from: CRIM 2010, 2230, 2400 or 2590 (all courses fulfill required CJ elective hours at UCM)

Minimum Total Hours Required for CCC AAS: 62 Semester Hours


*Course must be completed with a C or higher.

UCM BS Criminal Justice and Criminology


The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Any courses listed above not taken at CCC must be completed at UCM.

Major Requirements: 15 Semester Hours


General Education Requirements: 27-28 Semester Hours


The General Education  program will need to be completed at UCM. Hours will vary depending on general education course selection at CCC.

  • Foundational Skills (0-9 hours)
  • Knowledge Area I (0-9 hours)
  • Knowledge Area II (10 hours)
  • Knowledge Area III (0-3 hours)
  • Elective (0-3 hours)

Free Choice Electives: 15-16 Semester Hours


Free choice elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.

Students must take at least 30 upper-level (3000/4000) hours to graduate. Courses taken at CCC that articulate to upper-level UCM courses do not count towards upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BS: 120 Semester Hours
