Transfer Guide SFCC AAT to UCM BSE Special Education

AAT General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours

The below courses can be taken as part of the general eduation program at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.

All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. Some majors require additional hours due to required coursework. See The General Education Program Requirements  for full listing of requirements at UCM.

• HIST 101 US History Before 1877 transfers as  HIST 1350 - History of the United States to 1877 GE (3)

• OR

• HIST 102 US History Since 1877 transfers as  HIST 1351 - History of the United States from 1877 GE (3)

AAT Program Requirements: 15.5 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for BSE Special Education majors and may be taken as part of the required program courses for the AAT degree at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.

• PSY 102 Child Psychology transfers as  PSY 2220 - Child and Adolescent Psychological Development (3) (required for Areas 1 & 2) *
• EDUC 205 Teaching Profession with Field Experience transfers as  FLDX 2150 - Introductory Field Experience (1) (required for all Areas) *
• EDUC 209 Foundations of Education transfers as  EDFL 2100 - Introduction to the Teaching Profession (3) (required for all Areas) *
• EDUC 220 Educational Psychology transfers as  EDFL 2240 - Educational Psychology GE (3) (required for all Areas) *

AAT Program Electives: 9 Semester Hours

The below courses can be taken as part of the AAT program electives at SFCC and will fulfill BSE Special Education certification area requirements. Any required courses not taken at SFCC must be completed at UCM. 

• EDUC 218 Children’s Literature transfers as  EDFL 3410 - Children’s Literature (3) (required for Areas 1 & 2)
• ECD 103 Child Growth and Development transfers as  CFD 1220 - Child and Adolescent Development (3) (required for Area 3)
• ECD 109 Observation and Planning Assessment transfers as  CFD 1230 - Observation of Children (2) (required for Area 3)
• EDUC 228 Education of the Exceptional Child transfers as  EDSP 2100 - Education of the Exceptional Child (3) (required for all Areas) *
• MATH 117 Contemporary Mathematics transfers as  MATH 1620 - Introduction to Geometry and Decision Making for Educators GE (3) (required for all Areas)
