Transfer Guide SFCC AAS Automotive Technology to UCM BS Automotive Technology Management

The below courses are required for BS Automotive Technology Management majors and can be fulfilled at SFCC as part of the AAS Automotive Technology requirements. The full list of SFCC AAS Automotive Technology requirements can be found in the SFCC catalog.
AAS General Education Requirements: 16 Semester Hours
The below courses can be taken as part of the general education program at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.
Note: All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. Students who transfer to UCM with an AAS degree will need to complete the general education program at UCM. See the General Education Articulations page for full listing of SFCC courses that fulfill UCM’s general education requirements
AAS Automotive Technology Program Requirements: 52 Semester Hours
The below courses are required for Automotive Technology Management majors and will be taken as part of the required courses for the AAS Automotive Technology degree at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.
- AUTO 121 Automotive Engines transfers as ATM 2110 - Engine Theory and Maintenance (4: 3 lecture, 1 lab) (required for all Areas)* AND ATM 3110 - Automotive Engine Overhaul (4: 1 lecture, 3 lab) (required for Area 1)*
- AUTO 103 Manual Transmissions, Drivelines, and Axels transfers as ATM 2140 - Manual Drivelines (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for Area 1)*
- AUTO 119 Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning transfers as ATM 2150 - Mobile Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning (Mobile HVAC) (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for Area 1)*
- AUTO 105 Automatic Transmissions transfers as ATM 4110 - Automatic Transmissions (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for Area 1)*
- AUTO 100 Introduction to Automotive Technology transfers as ATM 1010 - Contemporary Power Systems (3: 2 lecture, 1 lab) (required for all Areas)*
- AUTO 115 Automotive Brakes transfers as ATM 2124 - Automotive Braking Systems (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
- AUTO 118 Advanced Auto Electrical and Electronics transfers as ATM 2130 - Automotive Electrical Systems (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
- AUTO 106 Power Train Management transfers as ATM 2132 - Engine Performance I (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
- AUTO 113 Steering, Suspension and Wheels transfers as ATM 3120 - Steering and Suspension Systems (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
- AUTO 108 Advanced Engine Performance transfers as ATM 3130 - Engine Performance II (4: 2 lecture, 2 lab) (required for all Areas)*
- AUTO 116 Automotive Electrical System Fundamentals transfers as ET 1010 - Applied Electricity (4: 3 lecture, 1 lab) (required for all Areas)
Minimum Total Hours Required for SFCC AAS: 68 Semester Hours
Additional Course Options
The below courses are not required for the AAS Automotive Technology degree at SFCC, but can be taken to fulfill UCM requirements for the BS Automotive Technology Management degree. If not taken at SFCC, these courses must be completed at UCM.
UCM BS Automotive Technology Management
The below list of courses represents the requirements a student will have left to complete after transferring to UCM with an AAS Automotive Technology degree. Any courses listed above not taken at SFCC must be completed as part of the BS Automotive Technology Management requirements.
Major Requirements: 28-41 Semester Hours
Students must receive a grade of C or better in all required courses with the ATM prefix in order for the course to count toward the major.
Technical Courses: 19 Semester Hours
Management Courses: 9-12 Semester Hours
Electives from One of the Three Areas Listed: 0-10 Semester Hours
Area 1 - Automotive Technology
All Area 1 courses can be completed at State Fair Community College (see course listing under “AAS Automotive Technology Program Requirements” above). If not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM
Area 2 - Design Technology
Electives from the following: 3-4 Semester Hours
Area 3 - Service Management
Choose 9 hours from the following courses:
General Education Requirements: 10 Semester Hours
The following general education classes are required by this major:
Free Electives: 1-14 Semester Hours
Elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework.
Minimum Total: 120-124 Semester Hours
