Transfer Guide MCC AAT to UCM BSE Special Education

AAT General Education Requirements: 41-47 Semester Hours

The below courses can be taken as part of the general education program at MCC. If these courses are not taken at MCC, they must be completed at UCM.

All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. Some majors require additional hours due to required coursework. See The General Education Program Requirements  for full listing of requirements at UCM.

• HIST 120 United States History to 1865 transfers as  HIST 1350 - History of the United States to 1877 GE (3) (required for all Areas)

• OR

• HIST 121 United States History Since 1865 transfers as  HIST 1351 - History of the United States from 1877 GE (3) (required for all Areas)

• PSYC 240 Child Psychology transfers as  PSY 2220 - Child and Adolescent Psychological Development (3) (required for Area 1 and Area 2) *

• OR

• PSYC 243 Human Lifespan Development transfers as  PSY 3220 - Life-Span Development (3) (required for Area 1 and Area 2) *

AAT Program Requirements: 12 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for the BSE Special Education majors and may be taken as part of the 12 required hours for the AAT degree at MCC. If these courses are not taken at MCC, they must be completed at UCM.

• EDUC 200 Foundations of Education in a Diverse Society transfers as  EDFL 2100 - Introduction to the Teaching Profession (3) * (required for all Areas)
• EDUC 270 Educational Psychology transfers as  EDFL 2240 - Educational Psychology GE (3) * (required for all Areas)
• EDUC 201 Teaching Profession with Field Experience transfers as  FLDX 2150 - Introductory Field Experience (1) * (required for all Areas)

AAT Electives: 8 Semester Hours

The below courses are required at UCM as part of the BSE Special Education program and may be completed at MCC as part of the 8 elective hours. If not taken at MCC, they must be completed at UCM.

• MATH 3890 - Concepts and Methods of Teaching for Special Education (3)

Area of Certification Requirements: 32-39 Semester Hours

General Education Requirements: 6 Semester Hours

The following general education classes are required for this major:

• MATH 1620 - Introduction to Geometry and Decision Making for Educators GE (3)
• MATH 1820 - Introduction to Numbers and Operations for Educators GE (3)

Minimum Total Hours Required for BSE: 120 Semester Hours

*Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
