Transfer Guide SFCC AAT to UCM BSE Elementary Education: Early Childhood Birth-Grade 3

AAT General Education Requirements: 42 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for Elementary Education majors and can be taken as part of the general education program at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.

All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. Some majors require additional hours due to required coursework. See The General Education Program Requirements  for full listing of requirements at UCM.

• POLS 101 American/National Government transfers as  POLS 1510 - American Government GE (3)

• HIST 101 US History Before 1877 transfers as  HIST 1350 - History of the United States to 1877 GE (3)

• OR

• HIST 102 US History Since 1877 transfers as  HIST 1351 - History of the United States from 1877 GE (3)

AAT Program Requirements: 15.5 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for Elementary Education majors and may be taken as part of the required program courses for the AAT degree at SFCC. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.

• EDUC 212 Educational Technology transfers as  ECEL 2900 - Technology in Education Seminar I (1) AND ECEL 2901 - Technology in Education Seminar II (1)  
• EDUC 209 Foundations of Education in a Diverse Society transfers as  EDFL 2100 - Introduction to the Teaching Profession (3) *
• EDUC 220 Educational Psychology transfers as  EDFL 2240 - Educational Psychology GE (3) *
• EDUC 205 Teaching Profession with Field Experience transfers as  FLDX 2150 - Introductory Field Experience (1) *
• PSY 102 Child Psychology transfers as  PSY 2220 - Child and Adolescent Psychological Development (3) *

AAT Program Electives: 9 Semester Hours

The below courses can be taken as part of the AAT program electives at SFCC and will fulfill Elementary Education requirements at UCM. If these courses are not taken at SFCC, they must be completed at UCM.

Minimum Total Hours Required for SFCC AAT: 66.5 Semester Hours

Major Requirements Clinical Pathway: 56 Semester Hours

Professional Education Requirements: 17 Semester Hours

Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.

• ECEL 4400 - Classroom Management and Interactions (3)
• EDFL 2250 - Introduction to English Language Learners and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (2)

General Education Requirements: 6 Semester Hours

The following general education courses are required for this major.

• MATH 1620 - Introduction to Geometry and Decision Making for Educators GE (3)
• MATH 1820 - Introduction to Numbers and Operations for Educators GE (3)

Minimum Total Hours Required for BSE: 124 Semester Hours

*Must earn a 3.00 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a C in Professional Education courses.
