Transfer Guide JCCC AA to UCM BA Psychology

AA General Education Requirements: 30 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for students pursuing a degree in Psychology and can be taken as part of the AA general education program at JCCC. If these courses are not taken at JCCC, they must be completed at UCM.

All students must complete a minimum of 42 credit hours in general education. Some majors require additional hours due to required coursework. See The General Education Program Requirements  for full listing of requirements at UCM. 

• PSYC 130 Introduction to Psychology transfers as  PSY 1100 - General Psychology GE (3)
• PSYC 220 Social Psychology transfers as  PSY 3340 - Social Psychology (3)
• FL 230 Intermediate Spanish I transfers as  SPAN 2601 - Intermediate Spanish I GE (3) (if Spanish is chosen)
• FL 220 Intermediate German I transfers as  GER 2301 - Intermediate German GE (3) (if German is chosen)
• FL 240 Intermediate French I transfers as  FREN 2201 - Intermediate French I GE (3) (if French is chosen)

AA Elective Options: 30 Semester Hours

The below courses are required for BA Psychology majors and may be taken as part of the 30 required elective hours for the AA degree at JCCC. If these courses are not taken at JCCC, they must be completed at UCM.

• PSYC 218 Human Development transfers as  PSY 3220 - Life-Span Development (3)
• FL 130 Elementary Spanish I transfers as  SPAN 1601 - Elementary Spanish I GE (3) (if Spanish is chosen)
• FL 131 Elementary Spanish II transfers as  SPAN 1602 - Elementary Spanish II GE (3) (if Spanish is chosen)
• FL 140 Elementary French I transfers as  FREN 1201 - Elementary French I GE (3) (if French is chosen)
• FL 141 Elementary French II transfers as  FREN 1202 - Elementary French II GE (3) (if French is chosen)
• FL 120 Elementary German I transfers as  GER 1301 - Elementary German I GE (3) (if German is chosen)
• FL 121 Elementary German II transfers as  GER 1302 - Elementary German II GE (3) (if German is chosen)

Minimum Total Hours Required for JCCC AA: 60 Semester Hours

Major Requirements: 16 Semester Hours

• PSY 1000 - Orientation to Psychology (1)
• PSY 2130 - Learning (3)
• PSY 4110 - History of Psychology (3)
• PSY 4150 - Cognitive Psychology (3)
• PSY 4310 - Theories of Personality (3)
• PSY 4440 - Abnormal Psychology (3)

Select 1 Group of Classes from the Following Choices: 9-12 Semester Hours

Modern Language Requirement

The nine (9) required hours of Modern Language can be fulfilled at JCCC (see above). Please see the UCM Undergraduate Catalog for other fulfillment options.

Free Choice Electives: 32-35 Semester Hours

Free choice elective hours may vary depending on transfer coursework and course selection at UCM.

Note: A minimum of 30 upper-level (3000/4000) hours is required for degree completion. Courses taken at JCCC that articulate to upper-level courses at UCM do NOT count toward upper-level hours.

Minimum Total Hours Required for BA: 120 Semester Hours
